August, 2013 NewsletterGlock Match Was a Smash!
The Buckeye State Ballistic Challenge Glock match was a fantastic success again this year. With 423 registered entries, this match broke last year's record by about 10. Fort Harmar continues to grow this match year after year. Glock and GSSF recognizes this by awarding the club more Glock pistols to give away in drawings each year. Three Glock pistols were given to the match volunteers through a random drawing at the end of event. The winners of this year's pistols were Don Fought, Bill Carroll and Thomas Whitehouse. Daryl Jones, the Glock match director, did a fantastic job and would like to thank every volunteer that showed up and helped out for the three days. If you missed this years event, put it on your schedule for next year. It is a great event and is well worth coming out to the range for. Sean Parks did and had a great time shooting the event. He placed well in the rankings and the word on the street is that he is even going to trade his other pistols for Glocks!
Kevin Parks Youth Day
The Kevin Parks Youth Day was held yesterday, August 10, with 47 young people participating. All the youngsters had a great time shooting at each of the five stages that were prepared for them. Sean Parks did a fantastic job organizing and putting on this event for the children. Our children are the future of the shooting sports and events like this are a great way to introduce them to the sports. Every child there had a great time and will remember it for the rest of their lives. Go to www.facebook.com/fortharmar to see a picture of the participants.
Women on Target
The Women of Target committee wants to remind all the women in the club that the event is scheduled for September 28th. Register before September 15 to get a free event T-shirt. The committee has been working real hard these last couple of months to ensure that this year's event is another success. This event is open to all women young and old that want to learn a little more about the safe handling and use of firearms. The link for the registration form is on the front page of the Fort Harmar website at www.fortharmar.com If you have any questions about the event call Melissa Saltzwedel at 740-473-9110 or Sharon Lankford at 740-373-4574

The IDPA match directors are again putting out a request for help for this month's IDPA match. The Sunday Study Group is designing and running this match but we still need about 20 members to help out with scoring and pasting. If you haven't fulfilled your one day a year club commitment this would be a perfect opportunity to do so. Please contact Don or Lisa at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 740-423-6026 to get your name on the volunteer list. Every volunteer gets his/her name in the drawing for a brand new Glock pistol to be given out at the end of year club banquet. Rich Kuhn won it last year. This could be your year but you will never know unless you come out and help.
Just a Reminder
The barrels and target stands are at the ranges for the use of the club members. Please do not shoot them to pieces and put them away when you are through with them. The barricades marked PPC and the door frame are not target stands so please do not shoot holes through them. They are used for various club matches and can be used by the members as barricades to shoot around, not through.
