A big congratulations goes to Mike Steinel for being selected to participate in the Jr. Olympics small bore and air rifle competition in Colorado. He will be competing with 200 shooters for a spot on the Olympics developmental team. The members at last Wednesday's meeting voted to present Mike with $2500 from the club to cover his costs while out in Colorado. Congratulations Mike and good luck. All of us back here are pulling for you.
Eric Bear - ODNR
The local ODNR officer, Eric Bear, gave a presentation at the meeting last week about some changes to hunting and fishing regulations for this year. Some of the things he mentioned were changes to deer bag limits and possession limits of Bluegill and bass on AEP properties. Be sure and check the ODNR websites for the updated regulations before starting out on that hunting or fishing trip.
The RSO class on March 2 went very well. 15 new RSO's were graduated. Thank you to all who participated and made this a great class.
Friends of NRA
The Friends of NRA had another successful night on february 28th. They raised about $96,000 of which about $50,000 is profit. This means that about $25,000 will be coming back to Washington County next year to support the shooting sports and education programs that are here.
IDPA Instructional March 17 - the IDPA Instructional match is fast approaching. Any one with friends or family that would like to learn about IDPA be sure and send them out. It will be held at the outdoor pistol range from 1 to 4 on Sunday, March 17. All a shooter needs is eye and ear protection, a pistol, at least two mags, a mag pouch, a holster and at least 60 rounds of ammunition. We will start by talking about safety, IDPA rules, equipment requirements and match procedures. The cost is $10 per shooter. For more information contact Bill Carroll or Don Fought.
IDPA Match March 24 ñ Sunday March 24 will be our first IDPA match of the year. 5 stages plus a qualifier are planned. Be sure and bring a cover garment as some of the stages will require one. We also are in need of volunteers to help staff the match. If you would like to help out with this match, please contact Don or Lisa Fought.
