DIRECTOR’S COMMENTS
The Annual Dinner Meeting was held on January 22 and a great time was had. It gave me great pleasure to announce that the Fort Harmar hosted GSSF Buckeye Ballistic Challenge was picked as GSSF’s 2013 Match of the Year. Also, we are still in the top ten of all the GSSF matches in the country, one more thing that proves that Fort Harmar is one of the top clubs in the country.
It was also an honor to present the 2013 “Charlie” Award to John Triplett, recognizing his many hours behind the scenes working for the club. If you see him, please add your congratulations and thanks.
The long-anticipated roll-out of the new web site was presented to the members and I have heard a large number of comments from people who really like the new look. Gary Bosworth our “Web Master Extraordinaire” has done an outstanding job.
We finished 2013 with match attendance increasing in many of the older venues and with smaller effects than anticipated on others due to the ammo supply problems. The Women on Target Clinic had a record-setting 94 participants and the reservations have already started arriving for this year’s event.
We have also had a big increase in the membership of the club. I attribute this to the membership talking up the club, the work of our volunteers and match directors at events, and to the instructors that have been very busy this past year.
The new match schedule is posted on the web site and there is some talk about adding a few more events still. Please watch the newsletter and schedule for updates. The first matches are coming up the first Sunday in March so start marking your calendars.
I want to close my comments to thank the many volunteers that did so much this past year. They are the reason that we had such an outstanding year. They also a big part of the reason that the club’s membership is continuing to grow. If you are at an event, please take the time to thank them for their hard work.
Here’s to an even bigger and better year this year. Hope to see you on the range.

MEMBERSHIP CARDS
Club membership cards have hit the mail recently. If you don’t receive yours in the next week, contact Vicki McKnight or Russ Tuten to check on it. Also, be on the lookout for the door combination change at the indoor and outdoor ranges. Russ will change them in the next few weeks after everyone has received their new membership cards.
FRIENDS OF NRA
There are still a few tickets left for the annual Mid Ohio Valley Friends of NRA banquet to be held on February 27. This fund raising dinner raises money to support several Fort Harmar programs such as Women on Target and the 4H and Fort Harmar youth rifle teams. UPCOMING MATCHES
The match season kicks off for 2014 on March 2 with a Cowboy and a Cowboy long range match. The Cowboy Long Range will be held on the rifle range and the Cowboy match will be held on the outdoor pistol range. For more information about these matches you can contact the match directors. For the Cowboy match, contact Dale Wilson at 740-373-3935 or Mark Wunderlich at 740-678-2711. For the Long Range Cowboy match, contact Ken or Catherine Robart at 740-667-3670.
The IDPA season also kicks off in March with the annual IDPA Instructional match on March 23 at 10am. If you are interested in participating in IDPA but have never been to a match, then this event is for you. The day starts with a safety brief and a discussion about the rules and equipment of the International Defensive Pistol Association. After the discussion, the new shooters will be run through three stages that are specially designed to expose them to many of the skills needed for IDPA. This instructional is open to any shooter that is interested in participating in IDPA or Ladies Defensive Pistol matches. PPC or Police Pistol Combat also kicks off their season on March 23. This match combines speed and accuracy in a single stage to create an exciting match that is open to all.
